Colabello drives in four, Twins sting Rays in 12

The Twins picked up their first extra-inning win of the season Wednesday night, with a 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The win snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Rays, at Tropicana Field.

Chris Colabello‘s base hit in the 12th inning scored Joe Mauer and Trevor Plouffe and gave the Twins a two-run lead.

‘Joke of a suspension’: Twitter reacts to Matt Cooke’s punishment

The NHL suspended Minnesota Wild forward Matt Cooke for seven games on Wednesday night.

Cooke was suspended for his Game 3 hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie.

The suspension ensures that the Wild will have to play without Cooke for the remainder of the Colorado series and should they win, the start of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Huskers loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, and Jordan Gombos was hit by a pitch to send in the winning run as Holdingford topped Eden Valley-Watkins.

Jeremy Springer was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Holdingford (1-0 Central Minnesota Conference, 2-0 overall).

Girls Softball Eden Valley-Watkins 9, Holdingford 5

The Eagles erased a 4-2 deficit in a five-run fifth inning to pick up their third straight victory.

Mindy Forcier led the Eagles (3-0) with a 3-for-3 day and Ashley Anderson added two hits. Jamie Scherer picked up the complete game win and improved to 3-0 for the Eagles.
