Winning pitcher Russ Wendlandt singled in Kal Volinkaty, who singled and stole second base leading off the inning, with the go-ahead run in the sixth for Litchfield.

The victors also got a two-run homer from Austin Larson and an RBI doubles from Volinkaty and Eddie Estrada.

Boys Baseball Section Finals Delano 4, LHS 2 – Delano 9, LHS 3

Litchfield was in prime position to advance to its first state baseball tournament, but Delano, its Highway 12 neighbor to the east, beat the Dragons twice Thursday on their home field to advance to state for the fifth straight year and ninth time overall.

Boys Baseball Section Semifinals LHS 6, Delano 4

Litchfield moved to the cusp of its first state baseball tournament trip with a 6-4 victory over Delano in the Section 5AA winner’s bracket final on Monday.

The Dragons’ Braeden Wahl and Eddie Estrada both hit two-run home runs, helping Litchfield erase a deficit and withstand a seventh-inning Delano rally.

Boys Baseball Browerville 11, ACGC 4

Browerville sent 12 batters to the plate and had seven hits in an eight-run first inning to end ACGC’s season.

The big blow was a two-out, three-run double off the bat of Trent Johnson that gave Browerville an 8-0 lead.

Brett Busskohl, Brody Larson and Jordan Nelson each had two hits for the Falcons, who finish their season 6-12.
