Student of the Week

 
Area school administrators select a student who has done well at all aspects of education and the “Student of the Week” is announced on KLFD AM 1410 during the school year on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 3:55.

Tune in each Tuesday at 3:55 for Litchfield High School Student of the Week.  Litchfield Student of the week is sponsored by Affiliated Clinic of Litchfield.

Tune in each Thursday at 3:55 for Eden Valley-Watkins High School Student of the Week.  EV-W Student of the Week is sponsored by The State Bank of Eden Valley.

KARIN HANSEN has been selected by Dave Ceasar as this week's "Student of the Week".  Karin is the daughter of Tim and Lisa Hangen.  Karin is the section leader of the mallets this year and is filling the job with excellence.  Karin participates in volleyball, basketball, golf, band, marching band and choir.  Congratulations Karin and thank you for all the effort you put into the fine arts program!

RYAN ANDERSON has been selected by the Ag Department as "Student of the Week".  Ryan lives and breaths agriculture with all that he does.  Ryan is currently enrolled in Livestock Science where Ryan often contributes valuable insight from his experiences and Worksite Learning where Ryan currently works for Urdahl Farms, performing a wide range of tasks from milking to field work to working on machines.  Ryan participates in FFA, in Dairy Cattle judging and Parliamentary Procedure Contests.  Congraulations Ryan!

ETHAN ALBRECHT has been selected as "Student of the Week".  Ethan is the son of Edwin and Angela Albrecht.  Ethan is an outstanding student receiving an exceptional grade in AP Physics.  Ethan participates in the Student Council.  Congratulations Ethan!

KEVIN MCNAMARA has been selected as "Student of the Week" by the Math Department.  Kevin is a junior and the son of Kelly and Terry McNamara.  Kevin has made tremendous strides throughout the school year with his work ethic.  He brings a business like attitude to the classroom, but manages to do it all with a smile on his face.  Kevin's confidence and ability to take risks have made him an absolute joy to have in class.  Congratulations Kevin!

BRANDI DORMAN has been selected as "Student of the Week" by her teacher, Mrs. Goraczkowski.  Brandi is a freshman and the daughter of John Dorman.  Brandi has demonstrated tremendous growth in independence as well as personal responsibility in dealing with the increased organizational and homework requirements at the high school.  Her spirit of determination, conscientiousness and optimism are commendable.  Congratulations Brandi!

NICK MAAHS has been selected "Student of the Week" by the Math Department.  Nick is the son of Christine McConkey and Jason Maahs.  Nick is an extremely dedicated and bright student who comes to class ready to work and willing to learn.  Nick participates in football and FFA.  Congratulations Nick!

BRITTNEY BERNING has been chosen by the World Language Department as "Student of the Week".  Brittney is a freshman and the daughter of Bill and Selina Berning.  As a motivated student, Brittney has excelled in her Spanish language abilities.  Brittney puts forth her best effort every day and gets along well with her peers.  Brittney participates in tennis, hockey and softball.  Congratulations Brittney!

CHELSIE MCGRAW has been chosen by the Mathematics Department as "Student of the Week".  Chelsie is a junior and the daughter of Donna McGraw.  Chelsie is a very dedicated student and always puts forth her best effort. She is focused, organized, considerate and driven to succeed.  Along with her commitment to her studies, Chelsie still finds time to help other students who are struggling.  Chelsie participates in tennis, softball, color guard and band.  Congratulations Chelsie!

JESSICA HUFF has been chosen by the Family and Consumer Science Department as "Student of the Week".  Jessica is a junior and the daughter of Robert and Lisa Huff.  Jessica is a very conscientious student.  Her great work ethic, positive attitude and desire to do her best are evident in all her endeavors.  Jessica participates in the LHS Youth Service program helping out in a kindergarten classroom.  Congratualtions Jessica!

LAURA WILLSON has been chosen by the Physical Education Department as "Student of the Week".  Laura is a sophomore and the daughter of Sid and Deb Willson.  Laura is receiving this award due impart to her great attitude in class and her fantastic effort in all her endeavors.  Laura participates in basketball, softball and colorguard.  Congratulations Laura and keep up the good work!

The CLASS OF 2008 has been chosen as this weeks EVW "Students of the Week".  Led by valedictorian, Simon Kern and salutatorian, Jackie Asfeld, this class of 72 has 29 honor students who have achieved a 3.25 or higher in seven and one half credits in the hardest courses EVW has offered.  This is the highest amount of honor students in the schools history. Also present in this class is a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, an All State Band member and an All State Choir member.  This class has went to state in football for the fourth year in a row, state in Knowledge Bowl for the second time in school history and for the first time in school history, went to state in One-Act Play.  There ere 41 students in the class who will graduate with a "B" average or higher and when they were sophomores they scored 100% on the state writing test which was the first time EVW schools scored a 100 on one of those tests.  Congratulations to the Class of 2008 for a great year.  You will be missed and best of luck with your future plans.

COURTNEY NISTLER has been chosen as this weeks EVW "Student of the Week".  Courtney is a senior and the daughter of Kelly and Nancy Nistler.  Courtney is a leader in her class and has not been afraid to step up to take leadership rolls.  She is well respected among her peers and staff for her leadership skills.  She is her own person and has strong principles she stands for.  Courtney participates in Track and Field, Mock Trail Team, Tri-M Music Society , band, Student Council and the Vice-President of the FFA.  Congratualtions Courtney!

RHEANNE ZIMMERMAN has been chosen as this weeks EVW "Student of the Week".  Rheanne is a senior and the daughter of Randy and Molly Zimmerman of Paynesville.  Rheanne has an outstanding commitment to excellence academically and in life.  She is a very talented young woman with unlimited potential.  She was selected earlier this year as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, which honors the top eight thousand students in the country and Rheanne is among this elite group of students.  Heanne participates in band, National Honor Society, cross-country, track, Knowledge Bowl and speech.  Congratulations Rheanne!
