Sheriff’s office task force shudders significant Minnesota meth ring
Minnesota News | April 26, 2013
According to a Hennepin County media release, a task force has netted its largest methamphetamine bust in Minnesota, leading to 12 pounds of the drug, $150,000 in cash, and a semi-automatic handgun.
The street value of the drug is $200,000. Five have been arrested, as reported by KSTP-TV, and three have been charged.
“Our multi-agency task force shut down a significant meth distribution operation,” Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said in the release.
The Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office along with Golden Valley, Richfield, Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park police departments. Bloomington Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted with the investigation.
The street value is certainly more than Minnesota law enforcement officials are used to seeing, but nothing from this $200 million bust in Australia earlier this month.
