The Litchfield School Board approved of several personnel matters last night, including the transfer of Luke Stordahl from high school language arts teacher to interim dean of students at Wagner Elementary School for the 2013-2014 school year. Stordahl will be filling in for Jason Michels who is the interim high school principal.
The Board appointed Eric Slininger as language arts teacher in the high school to fill in for Luke Stordahl. The Board also discussed staffing at Litchfield Community Education during the interim period without a director. Several scenarios were discussed, but no decision was made and the discussion will continue next month.
Superintendent Dr. Daniel Frazier told the Litchfield School Board last night that the track project is nearly complete, but that the asphalt needs to cure for about 3 weeks. He says the public will have to be educated about not being able to be on the track for football games.
Dr. Frazier also told the Board that high school biology teacher Beth Ring was one of 50 teachers in the nation to be selected to attend a STEM institute in Washington, DC for a week in early August. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Also last night, four Litchfield High School students – Olivia Wicklund, Kate Schumann, Ali McGraw and Josiah Green – gave the Litchfield School Board an update on the FCCLA Club. They spoke about several of the STAR events that they’ve implemented. Olivia Wicklund was recently elected to the FCCLA National Executive Council.
